Bloody missed

I was playing a hex grid based strategy games reluctantly with a few of my friends in their living room. I was playing on their big screen TV and both of them were playing on laptops.

The game grid was hex based however I was moving a character with WASD in third person so was struggling with the tiles and how it was ambigous as to which direction you would go if you went ‘forwards’ into a fork.

I had a troop sneak into a camp where I suspected one friend was hiding a member of his Royalty, but didn’t know where. When my turn ended I stowed my character which resulted in him being hidden quite obviously in a poorly textured wooden crate and ended my turn.

On his turn, he saw this trunk, and fortified his outpost by hiding his valuables and the member of royalty all obviously in a row of 4 identical looking houses.

Before he ended his turn, he attacked my infiltrator with a knight on horseback who was carrying a hammer with a long shaft. The knight was on low health but was sure to kill my glass cannon rogue in a single blow.

He swung, however, he missed. The voiceover exclaimed in a voice like Brian Blessed “you’ve only bloody missed!”, and we all started laughing, knowing next round I’d be able to kill the knight, capture the Royal and loot the poorly hidden stashes of valuables in the town.
